Shrimp Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Shrimp
In a medium bowl, combine the large shrimp, lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat the shrimp evenly and let marinate for 15-20 minutes.
Breading
- 2
Prepare the Breading Stations
Set up three shallow bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, dried parsley, garlic powder (for breading), and salt. Make sure to mix the breadcrumbs well.
- 3
Bread the Shrimp
Take each marinated shrimp, first dip it into the flour, shaking off excess. Then, dip it into the beaten eggs, ensuring it is fully coated. Finally, roll the shrimp in the panko breadcrumb mixture until fully covered. Set aside on a plate.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).
- 5
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally. Remove the shrimp with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the popcorn shrimp hot with your choice of dipping sauce, such as cocktail sauce or aioli.
