Fried Shrimp
Method
Cooking Directions
Prepare Shrimp
In a bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to an hour for maximum flavor.
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
Coat the Shrimp
Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk and allow excess to drip off. Dredge the shrimp in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
Fry the Shrimp
Fry the shrimp in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
Drain and Serve
Remove the shrimp from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately with Chesapeake fries, coleslaw, and cocktail sauce.
