Cake Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.

  2. 2

    Cream the butter and sugar

In a large mixing bowl, beat 1 cup of unsalted butter and 1.5 cups of granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add eggs and vanilla

Add the 3 large eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then mix in 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine dry ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tbs of baking powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt.

  5. 5

    Mix dry and wet ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with 0.5 cups of milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Pour batter into the pan

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

  7. 7

    Bake the cake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool the cake

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving Suggestions

  1. 9

    Dust with powdered sugar

Before serving, dust the warm butter cake with powdered sugar to your liking.

  2. 10

    Add toppings

Serve the cake warm with fresh berries and whipped cream on the side, if desired.
