Main Ingredients

Maple-Whiskey Sauce

Method

Prepare the Maple-Whiskey Sauce

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine maple syrup, whiskey, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Simmer the Sauce

Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it thicken for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Prepare the Bacon and Onions

  1. 3

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the applewood smoked bacon until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.

  2. 4

    Caramelize the Onions

In the same skillet, add the sliced medium onion and cook over medium-low heat for about 15-20 minutes until soft and caramelized, stirring occasionally.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 5

    Prepare the Roll

Slice the artisan rolls in half and toast lightly if desired.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each roll, layer the crispy bacon, caramelized onions, blue cheese, and a handful of arugula.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce

Drizzle the prepared maple-whiskey sauce generously over the top.

  4. 8

    Finish the Sandwich

Place the top half of the roll on the sandwich and press down gently. Serve immediately.
