Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel and slice the onion into thin rings. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ground Beef

Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and gently shape each into a loose ball. Season each ball with salt and black pepper.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Griddle the Onions

Heat the cooking oil in a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. Once done, remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Cook the Burgers

In the same skillet, place the beef balls and smash them down with a spatula to form patties. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip the patties. Place a slice of American cheese on each patty and let it melt while cooking for another 2-3 minutes.

  3. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the burger buns in the skillet until lightly golden. Place one patty on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a generous amount of griddled onions and a handful of shredded lettuce. Top with the other half of the bun.
