Syrup Preparation
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water. Stir to mix well.
Heat Mixture
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally.
Add Cinnamon
Once the mixture reaches a boil, add the ground cinnamon and continue to stir until fully dissolved.
Simmer
Reduce the heat to low and let the syrup simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Cool and Store
Remove from heat and let cool. Once cooled, transfer the syrup to a clean bottle and store in the refrigerator.
Cocktail Assembly
Prepare Glass
Fill a mixing glass with ice to chill.
Add Bourbon and Syrup
Pour in the bourbon and the cinnamon-brown sugar syrup into the mixing glass.
Add Bitters
Add the black walnut bitters to the mixture.
Stir
Stir well for about 30 seconds to combine and chill the ingredients.
Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish
Garnish with a twist of orange peel for added aroma and flavor.
