Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Edamame

If using frozen edamame, remove them from the freezer and let them sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes. If using fresh edamame, rinse them under cold water to clean.

  2. 2

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  3. 3

    Cook Edamame

Once the water is boiling, add the edamame and 1 tsp of salt. Cook for 5-6 minutes if fresh, or 3-5 minutes if frozen, until the edamame are tender.

  4. 4

    Drain the Edamame

After cooking, carefully drain the edamame in a colander. Rinse them briefly under cold water to stop the cooking process.

  5. 5

    Serve

Transfer the edamame to a serving bowl. Drizzle with soy sauce and sesame oil if desired, and sprinkle with red pepper flakes to taste. Serve warm or at room temperature.
