Method

Prepare Wonton Filling

  1. 1

    Mix Filling

In a bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shrimp, green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. 2

    Prepare Wrappers

Take a wonton wrapper and place a small spoonful of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, and press to seal. You can also fold the two outer corners to the center for a traditional shape. Repeat until all filling is used.

Prepare Broth

  1. 3

    Simmer Broth

In a large pot, combine chicken broth, sliced ginger, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Cook Wontons

  1. 4

    Boil Wontons

Carefully drop the prepared wontons into the simmering broth. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the wontons float to the surface and are cooked through.

Serve

  1. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Ladle the soup into bowls, and garnish with chopped cilantro and a drizzle of chili oil before serving.
