Pot Likker Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Greens

Wash the collard greens thoroughly to remove any dirt or grit. Remove the tough stems and chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Cook the Greens

Add the chopped collard greens to the pot and stir to combine with the onions and garlic. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the greens start to wilt.

  4. 4

    Add Liquid and Seasoning

Pour in the vegetable broth and add smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.

  5. 5

    Serve

Once the greens are tender, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve the pot likker warm, either as a soup or alongside cornbread.
