Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook Rigatoni

Add the rigatoni pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 10-12 minutes, until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making Butter Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained rigatoni to the skillet and toss to coat with the butter sauce. Stir in chopped parsley and season with black pepper. Serve immediately.

Making Tomato Sauce

  1. 7

    Sauté Onions

In a separate saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Herbs

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 9

    Simmer Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 10

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Once the sauce is ready, add the drained rigatoni to the tomato sauce and toss to combine. Serve hot.
