Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Peppermint Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Peppermint Leaves

Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from heat. Add the fresh peppermint leaves to the syrup and allow it to steep for about 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Strain the Syrup

After steeping, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl to remove the leaves. Set the syrup aside to cool.

Mixing the Drink

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled peppermint syrup, 2 cups of water, and 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  2. 5

    Serve Over Ice

Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the peppermint mixture over the ice, filling each glass to the top.

Garnishing (Optional)

  1. 6

    Add Whipped Cream

If desired, top the drink with a generous dollop of whipped cream for added richness.

  2. 7

    Sprinkle Crushed Candy Canes

Finish off by sprinkling crushed candy canes over the whipped cream for a festive touch and extra peppermint flavor.
