Dessert Base

Method

Dessert Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and gently fold them together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Lilac Infusion Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare Lilac Syrup

In a saucepan, combine the fresh lilac flowers, water, and granulated sugar. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

  2. 8

    Simmer and Steep

Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and allow the lilac flowers to steep in the syrup for 1 hour.

  3. 9

    Strain Syrup

After steeping, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the lilac flowers. Set aside the syrup to cool.

Whipped Topping Preparation

  1. 10

    Whip Cream

In a mixing bowl, add the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

  2. 11

    Beat Until Stiff Peaks

Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the cream mixture on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.

Assemble Dessert

  1. 12

    Layer the Dessert

Once the cake is completely cooled, place it on a serving plate. Drizzle the cooled lilac syrup over the top of the cake.

  2. 13

    Add Whipped Topping

Spread the whipped topping evenly over the cake, or dollop it on each slice when serving.

  3. 14

    Garnish and Serve

If desired, garnish with additional fresh lilac flowers. Slice and serve the lilac dessert chilled.
