Method
Preparation of Tea
- 1
Boil Water
In a kettle, bring 4 cups of fresh water to a boil over high heat.
- 2
Add Tea Leaves
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, remove it from heat and let it cool for about 2 minutes, until it reaches approximately 80°C (176°F). Add 2 tablespoons of green tea leaves to the water.
- 3
Brew Tea
Allow the tea leaves to steep in the hot water for about 2 to 3 minutes. Steeping for too long may produce a bitter flavor.
- 4
Strain Tea
After the steeping time, strain the tea leaves using a fine mesh strainer into a teapot or serving pitcher.
Scenting with Jasmine
- 5
Prepare Jasmine
If using fresh jasmine blossoms, rinse them gently under cold water to remove any dirt or impurities. If using dried blossoms, ensure they are clean and free from any additives.
- 6
Combine Tea and Jasmine
Add 1 cup of jasmine blossoms to the strained green tea. Stir gently to combine.
- 7
Infuse Flavors
Cover the teapot or pitcher and let the tea infuse with the jasmine blossoms for about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how strong you want the jasmine flavor to be.
- 8
Serve
After the infusion time, strain the tea again to remove the jasmine blossoms. Serve hot in tea cups or let it cool to serve as iced jasmine green tea.
