Method

Preparing the Octopus

  1. 1

    Clean the Octopus

If your octopus is not pre-cleaned, rinse it under cold water and remove the beak and ink sac. Make sure to remove any residual guts, if present.

  2. 2

    Boil the Octopus

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the octopus and cook for about 45 minutes, until tender. Remove from water and let cool.

  3. 3

    Marinate the Octopus

Once cooled, cut the tentacles into manageable pieces. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Add the tentacle pieces and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Grilling the Octopus

  1. 4

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 5

    Grill the Octopus

Place the marinated octopus on the grill. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until you get nice grill marks and it is heated through.

Preparing the Citrus and Herb Salad

  1. 6

    Combine Salad Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine mixed greens, orange segments, grapefruit segments, red onion, parsley, and mint.

  2. 7

    Dress the Salad

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper. Pour over the salad and toss gently to combine.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate the Dish

On a serving plate, arrange the grilled octopus pieces next to a generous portion of the citrus and herb salad. Drizzle any remaining marinade over the octopus for added flavor.

  2. 9

    Enjoy

Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious grilled octopus with citrus and herb salad!
