Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ragout

In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Add ground pork to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 7-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until slightly thickened.

Prepare the Whipped Ricotta

  1. 4

    Blend the Ricotta

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan, salt, black pepper, and chopped basil. Whip until smooth and creamy.

Cook the Broccoli Rabe

  1. 5

    Sauté the Greens

In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 6

    Cook the Broccoli Rabe

Add broccoli rabe to the pan, season with salt, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until tender. Remove from heat and set aside.

Assemble the Lasagna

  1. 7

    Layer Ingredients

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). In a baking dish, spread a layer of pork ragout at the bottom. Place 3 lasagna sheets on top.

  2. 8

    Add Whipped Ricotta

Spread a layer of whipped ricotta over the lasagna sheets, followed by some sautéed broccoli rabe and a few slices of spicy pork sausage.

  3. 9

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of ragout on top.

Final Touches and Baking

  1. 10

    Add Cheese Topping

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan over the top layer.

  2. 11

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  3. 12

    Rest Before Serving

Let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
