Shrimp Preparation

Method

Prepare the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Toss until the shrimp are evenly coated. Let them marinate for about 15 minutes.

Prepare the Breading

  1. 2

    Set up the Breading Station

Place the all-purpose flour in a shallow dish, beaten eggs in another shallow dish, and mix the bread crumbs with the grated Parmesan cheese in a third shallow dish.

Bread the Shrimp

  1. 3

    Coat the Shrimp

Take each marinated shrimp and first dredge it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the shrimp in the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Place the breaded shrimp on a plate.

Fry the Shrimp

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking (about 350°F or 175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles, it's ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Serve

  1. 6

    Plate and Serve

Serve the fried breaded shrimp hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the shrimp.
