Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- 3
Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- 4
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- 6
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Milk Soaking
- 7
Prepare the Milk Mixture
In a large bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk until well combined.
- 8
Soak the Cake
Once the cake is done baking, let it cool for about 10 minutes. Poke holes all over the surface of the cake using a fork. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Let the cake rest for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for best results.
Topping Preparation
- 9
Whip the Cream
In a medium bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
- 10
Frost the Cake
Spread the whipped cream generously over the top of the soaked cake.
- 11
Garnish
Sprinkle with cinnamon and add fresh berries on top for garnish, if desired.
