Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells gently with a brush to remove any debris. Remove the beards (the fibrous strands) if present.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic and Ginger

Peel the garlic cloves and mince them finely. Peel the ginger and grate it using a microplane or finely chop it.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

  2. 4

    Add the Mussels

Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and stir to coat them in the aromatic mixture.

  3. 5

    Add Wine and Seasoning

Pour in the white wine and add salt and black pepper. Cover the pot with a lid and increase the heat to high.

  4. 6

    Cook the Mussels

Let the mussels steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until they have opened up. Discard any mussels that remain closed.

  5. 7

    Finish and Serve

Remove the pot from heat. Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the mussels and give it a gentle toss. Serve immediately with crusty bread.
