Fried Calamari

Method

Fried Calamari

  1. 1

    Prepare the Calamari

Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.

  3. 3

    Dredge the Calamari

Coat the calamari rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well covered. Shake off any excess flour.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Calamari

Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in small batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried calamari from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges.

Dipping Sauce

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, garlic powder, and lemon juice.

  2. 8

    Mix Well

Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well blended and smooth.

  3. 9

    Serve

Transfer the dipping sauce to a serving bowl and enjoy it alongside the fried calamari.
