Prepare pattern and fabric
Prewash and dry the teddy fleece to pre-shrink and remove finishes. Lay fabric flat on a large table, nap running in same direction for all pieces. Place your pullover pattern pieces (front, back, sleeve) on the fabric and mark with fabric chalk. Allow 1/2" seam allowance if pattern does not include it.

Cut main pieces
Using fabric scissors or rotary cutter, cut the back, front, and two sleeve pieces from the main teddy fleece according to your size. Keep pile direction consistent. Transfer any notches and markings to the fabric with chalk or clips.

Sew shoulder seams
With right sides together, pin the front pieces to the back at the shoulder seams. Using a stretch or ballpoint machine needle and a slightly longer stitch length, sew the shoulder seams with a 1/2" seam allowance. Finish seams with a zigzag stitch or serger to prevent excessive bulk.

Attach side seams
Pin the side seams from the hem to the underarm, aligning front and back. Sew with 1/2" seam allowance. Press seams open gently using steam at a distance or a pressing cloth to avoid crushing the pile.

Construct hood
Cut two hood pieces from the teddy fleece (mirrored). If you want a lined hood using the same fleece, cut two additional lining pieces from the same yardage. With right sides together, sew the center back seam of the hood pieces. If lining, sew lining in the same way, then place lining and outer hood right sides together at the neckline, sew around the face opening leaving the neckline edge open; turn right side out and press face edge lightly with steam and a cloth.

Attach hood to neckline
With pullover body inside out, pin the hood's neckline to the pullover neckline, matching center back to center back and shoulder seams to hood seams. Ease the hood into the neckline and sew with a 1/2" seam allowance using a stretch stitch. Finish seam and topstitch 1/8" from the seam allowance on the hood side to secure the seam allowance toward the hood.

Prepare cuffs and hem bands
Cut rib knit pieces for the sleeve cuffs and hem according to the pattern measurements (typically 3" wide by the wrist/waist measurement minus 10-20% for stretch). Fold rib knit in half lengthwise with right sides together and sew the short ends to make bands. Fold bands in half so raw edges align.

Attach cuffs and hem
Pin each cuff band to the sleeve opening (right sides together), stretching the rib slightly to fit the sleeve circumference. Sew with a stretch stitch or serger. Repeat for other sleeve. For the hem band, pin it to the pullover hem, stretching to fit, and sew. If using optional elastic, create a casing or stitch elastic to the inside of the band before attaching to maintain snugness.
Closure and Finishing

Optional zipper or bias placket
If you want a partial front zipper, interface the placket area with light-weight interfacing. Install a nylon zipper according to zipper instructions, sew the zipper tape to the pullover front opening with a zipper foot, finishing the top edges neatly. Alternatively, finish the center front with bias binding: cut bias strips from teddy or matching fabric, press in half, and stitch around the opening for a clean edge.

Final finishing
Trim any loose threads and reinforce stress points with a few backstitches. If desired, topstitch around the hood, pockets (if added), and hem for a professional look. Use steam pressing sparingly to shape seams without flattening the fleece. Turn the pullover right side out and check fit; make any adjustments by resewing side seams or cuffs as needed.

Care label and washing
Attach a care label or note: machine wash cold on gentle cycle, tumble dry low or air dry, avoid high heat to preserve fleece pile. Remove excess lint with a fabric brush as needed.
