Method
Upper (soft synthetic, comfort & fit)
- 1
Cut pattern pieces
Using the shoe last and printed upper pattern for US 1 little kid, place the soft synthetic upper material on the cutting table and cut out the vamp, quarters, heel counter, tongue, and collar pieces. Leave a 3–4 mm seam allowance.
- 2
Apply color and reinforcement
Mix lucid pink and cloud white dyes as needed and apply in thin, even coats to the outer surface of the upper pieces to achieve the intended coloration (lucid pink main, cloud white accents). Allow 20–30 minutes to dry between coats.
- 3
Add perforations and padding
Use the micro-perforation punch tool to add ventilation holes in the vamp and quarter panels according to the pattern. Bond thin foam padding to the tongue and collar areas using the flexible contact cement; press flat and allow adhesive set time (5–10 minutes).
- 4
Stitch reinforcements and assemble upper
Place the reinforcement strips at the toe and side seam areas, then stitch the upper pieces together on the industrial sewing machine (or hand stitch) following the pattern seams. Make sure the perforations remain unobstructed and the padded collar/tongue align with the last.
- 5
Attach textile lining
Glue and stitch the soft knit textile lining inside the assembled upper, trimming excess. Ensure smooth edges around the ankle cuff for comfort.
Outsole / Midsole (firm & multi-ground traction)
- 6
Prepare midsole and recycled mix
Blend EVA foam with the recycled material chips (ensuring recycled content ~20% of this assembly). Cut the midsole to the last's footprint for US 1. Heat-form the midsole lightly so it conforms to the last profile.
- 7
Form outsole and position studs
Cut the TPR outsole sheet to match the last outline. Lay out the injected TPU studs in a multi-ground configuration (4 studs under forefoot, 4 under heel — adjust to fit child size). If studs are separate units, mark mounting points on outsole.
- 8
Bond midsole to outsole
Apply sole adhesive to the top of the outsole and bottom of the midsole. Align precisely and press together on the last. Clamp or press under moderate pressure for 10–15 minutes to achieve initial bond; allow full cure according to adhesive instructions (typically 24 hours).
- 9
Attach studs
Securely fix the TPU studs into their mounting points by welding, screwing, or pushing until locked, depending on stud system. Ensure studs are evenly tightened and trimmed so they don't protrude excessively into the footbed.
- 10
Final sole finishing
Seal outsole edges with a thin bead of edge sealing paint (cloud white) to cover any gap between upper and sole. Wipe away excess and allow to dry 10–15 minutes.
Details & Finishing
- 11
Lasting the upper to the sole
Place the assembled upper over the lasted midsole/outsole assembly. Stretch and align the upper around the last, then tack and glue the upper to the sole flange using the high-bond polyurethane adhesive. Use the heat press or thermoforming oven to slightly mold the upper around the last for a snug, natural fit. Clip and trim any excess material.
- 12
Install insole and laces
Insert the breathable removable insole (cloud white) into the shoe. Thread the flat lucid pink laces through eyelets or stitched lace channels. Tie a temporary knot to test fit and spacing.
- 13
Apply branding & protective finish
Adhere the 3-stripe decals on the lateral side and place the brand logo patch on the tongue or heel as per design. Spray a light coat of waterproof protective finish over the entire shoe to help with durability and stain resistance. Allow 30 minutes to dry.
- 14
Quality check & packaging
Inspect the shoe for secure stitching, even coloration, proper stud installation, and comfortable collar padding. Remove the shoe from the last, retie laces neatly, and place in child-size shoe box labeled 'US 1 Little Kid / lucid pink / cloud white / lucid pink.'
Tools & Final Steps
- 15
Clean and store all tools. Record materials used (including recycled content) to document that at least 20% recycled materials were incorporated. Perform a final fit test on the last to ensure sizing and comfort.
