Guacamole

Method

Tuna Tartare

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Dice the fresh tuna into small cubes and place in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

Add soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, finely chopped red onion, and chopped cilantro to the tuna. Mix gently to combine.

  3. 3

    Prepare Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash with a fork until creamy.

Guacamole

  1. 4

    Prepare the Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mash the avocado, then add lime juice, minced garlic, diced tomato, salt, and chopped cilantro. Mix until combined and creamy.

Tostones

  1. 5

    Prepare the Plantains

Peel the green plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.

  2. 6

    Fry the Plantains (First Fry)

Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry the plantain slices for about 4-5 minutes or until golden. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  3. 7

    Smash the Plantains

Using the bottom of a cup or a flat surface, gently smash each fried plantain slice to form discs.

  4. 8

    Fry the Plantains (Second Fry)

Return the smashed plantains to the hot oil and fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, sprinkle with salt.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

On a serving platter, place the tuna tartare in the center, top it with the guacamole, and serve with crispy tostones on the side.
