Method

Prepare the Sushi Rice

1

Rinse the Rice

In a fine mesh strainer, rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

2

Cook the Rice

In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice and 2.5 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and cover. Cook for 18-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed.

3

Prepare Seasoning

In a small bowl, mix together the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.

4

Combine Rice and Seasoning

Once the rice is cooked, remove it from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the rice to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Let it cool to room temperature.

Prepare the Toppings

5

Slice the Ahi Tuna

Using a sharp knife, slice the Ahi tuna into thin sashimi-style pieces.

6

Prepare the Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh out with a spoon. Slice into thin pieces.

Mix the Sauce

7

Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, wasabi, and sesame oil until well combined. Set aside.

Assemble the Dish

8

Plate the Ingredients

On a plate or bowl, spread a generous portion of sushi rice. Arrange the sliced Ahi tuna, avocado, and seaweed salad on top.

9

Add Garnishes

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the dish and add a side of pickled ginger.

10

Drizzle Sauce

Drizzle the prepared soy sauce mixture over the assembled ingredients.
