Hamburger Ingredients

Method

Preparation

1

Mix the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use your hands to mix gently until the ingredients are just incorporated. Do not overwork the meat.

2

Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty to help it cook evenly.

Cooking

3

Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time to reach desired doneness.

4

Add Cheese (if desired)

If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the grill or skillet to melt the cheese.

Assembly

5

Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

6

Assemble the Burgers

Layer each bun with a lettuce leaf, followed by a patty, tomato slices, and your choice of condiments. Top with the other half of the bun.
