Sushi Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook Sushi Rice

Rinse 1 cup of sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook it in a rice cooker or on the stovetop according to package instructions. Once cooked, let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Prepare Maduro

Peel the maduro and slice it into long strips. In a hot skillet, fry the maduro strips in a little oil until golden brown and tender. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare Seafood Mix

If using frozen seafood mix, thaw it according to package instructions. You can sauté it lightly in a pan for 2-3 minutes until cooked through. Set aside to cool.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Roll the Sushi

Lay a nori sheet shiny side down on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands to prevent sticking and spread a thin layer of sushi rice evenly over the nori, leaving about an inch at the top. Place 2-3 pieces of shrimp tempura, a strip of fried maduro, a spoonful of cream cheese, and some seafood mix in a line across the center.

  2. 5

    Add Guacamole

Spoon a small amount of guacamole on top of the fillings, ensuring not to overfill.

  3. 6

    Roll it Up

Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, tucking in the fillings as you go. Roll tightly but not too tight, to avoid squeezing the fillings out. Moisten the edge of the nori with water to seal the roll.

  4. 7

    Slice the Roll

Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into 6-8 pieces. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts for cleaner slices.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

Arrange the sushi rolls on a serving platter. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side for dipping.
