Main Ingredients

For Frying

Optional Dipping Sauce

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork Belly

Cut the pork belly into bite-sized cubes, approximately 1 inch each.

  2. 2

    Season the Pork

In a mixing bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Toss the pork belly cubes in the spice mixture until evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Marinate

Let the seasoned pork belly sit for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or in the refrigerator for a few hours for better flavor absorption.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, pour the vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  2. 5

    Fry the Pork Belly Bites

Carefully add the pork belly cubes to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until the bites are golden brown and crispy.

  3. 6

    Drain the Excess Oil

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pork belly bites from the oil and transfer them onto a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

  4. 7

    Serve

Serve the chicharron bites hot with your choice of hot sauce and lime wedges on the side for dipping.
