Method

Preparation of Clams

  1. 1

    Clean the Clams

Rinse the fresh clams under cold water to remove any sand or debris. Scrub the shells with a brush if necessary.

  2. 2

    Soak the Clams

Soak the clams in a bowl of fresh water for about 30 minutes to allow them to expel any sand.

  3. 3

    Steam the Clams

In a pot, bring a small amount of water to a boil. Add the clams, cover, and steam for about 5-7 minutes until they open. Discard any that do not open.

Preparing the Topping

  1. 4

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from skillet and let cool. Chop into small pieces.

  2. 5

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet, add olive oil, and sauté minced garlic and chopped bell pepper until soft, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked bacon, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Assembling and Baking

  1. 7

    Prepare Clam Shells

Carefully remove the top shell of each steamed clam and place the clam on a baking dish. Discard the top shell.

  2. 8

    Top the Clams

Spoon the topping mixture generously over each clam.

  3. 9

    Bake the Clams

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the clams for 10-12 minutes until the topping is golden brown and crispy.

  4. 10

    Serve

Garnish with additional parsley if desired and serve hot.
