Alfredo Sauce
Method
Cooking the Pasta

Boiling Water
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a large pot.

Seasoning Water
Add 1 tsp of salt to the boiling water.

Cooking Pasta
Add 2 cups of penne pasta to the pot and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 11-13 minutes.

Draining Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.
Making the Alfredo Sauce

Melting Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tbs of unsalted butter.

Sautéing Garlic
Add 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Adding Heavy Cream
Pour in 1 cup of heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer.

Incorporating Cheese
Stir in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.

Seasoning Sauce
Season the sauce with 1 tsp of black pepper and a pinch of grated nutmeg. Mix well.

Adjusting Sauce Consistency
If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to achieve the desired consistency.
Combining Pasta and Sauce

Tossing Pasta with Sauce
Add the drained penne pasta to the skillet with the alfredo sauce. Toss to combine until the pasta is evenly coated.

Garnishing
Garnish with 2 tbs of chopped parsley before serving.
