Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boiling Water

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a large pot.

  2. 2

    Seasoning Water

Add 1 tsp of salt to the boiling water.

  3. 3

    Cooking Pasta

Add 2 cups of penne pasta to the pot and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 11-13 minutes.

  4. 4

    Draining Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 5

    Melting Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tbs of unsalted butter.

  2. 6

    Sautéing Garlic

Add 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

  3. 7

    Adding Heavy Cream

Pour in 1 cup of heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer.

  4. 8

    Incorporating Cheese

Stir in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.

  5. 9

    Seasoning Sauce

Season the sauce with 1 tsp of black pepper and a pinch of grated nutmeg. Mix well.

  6. 10

    Adjusting Sauce Consistency

If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to achieve the desired consistency.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 11

    Tossing Pasta with Sauce

Add the drained penne pasta to the skillet with the alfredo sauce. Toss to combine until the pasta is evenly coated.

  2. 12

    Garnishing

Garnish with 2 tbs of chopped parsley before serving.
