Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Take the mozzarella cheese sticks out of the packaging and place them on a plate. Freeze the cheese sticks for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from melting during frying.
Breading Process
- 2
Set Up Breading Stations
In one shallow bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second shallow bowl, beat the eggs. In a third shallow bowl, mix the bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Cheese Sticks
Remove the frozen mozzarella sticks from the freezer. Dip each cheese stick into the flour, making sure it is completely coated. Then, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, roll the stick in the bread crumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the crumbs adhere. Repeat for all cheese sticks.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep pot or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature using a cooking thermometer.
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add a few breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 6
Repeat the Process
Continue frying the remaining mozzarella sticks in batches until all are cooked. Make sure to allow the oil to return to temperature between batches.
Serving
- 7
Serve Hot
Serve the mozzarella sticks immediately while hot, with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce on the side.
