Filet Mignon

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Filet Mignon

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides. Add fresh rosemary on top.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned filet mignon. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a plate for 5 minutes before slicing.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 5

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into equal-sized chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Garlic

While the potatoes are boiling, peel the garlic cloves and set aside.

  3. 7

    Mash the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are tender, drain them and return them to the pot. Add the garlic cloves, butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Use a potato masher or fork to mash until smooth and creamy.

  4. 8

    Serve

Spoon the garlic mashed potatoes onto a plate and serve alongside the filet mignon.
