Method
Preparing the Burger Patty
- 1
Mix the Beef
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until the ingredients are just combined.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
Cooking the Patties
- 3
Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F/190°C).
- 4
Grill the Patties
Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip them and cook for an additional 4 minutes.
- 5
Add Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
Assembling the Burger
- 6
Prepare the Buns
While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill for about 1-2 minutes.
