Fried Mozzarella Cheese Dippers

Marinara Dipping Sauce

Method

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Dippers

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese Sticks

Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks in half if desired for easier dipping. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, beat the eggs in the second bowl, and combine breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Coat each cheese stick in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally roll in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated. Place on a baking sheet and repeat with remaining cheese sticks.

  4. 4

    Chill the Battered Sticks

Place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to help the coating stick while frying.

  5. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet, add the vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).

  6. 6

    Fry the Cheese Dippers

Carefully add the chilled cheese sticks to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Marinara Dipping Sauce

  1. 7

    Cook the Marinara Sauce

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 9

    Finish with Fresh Basil

Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil. Adjust seasoning to taste.
