Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Steak

Trim any excess fat from the ribeye steak and slice it thinly against the grain. This will ensure tenderness.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

In a bowl, season the sliced steak with salt and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the meat is evenly seasoned.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the onion, mushrooms, and hot or sweet peppers. Set aside all veggies for later use.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the Steak

In a large skillet or griddle, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned steak slices and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally.

  2. 5

    Add Vegetables

Add the sliced onions and mushrooms to the skillet with the steak. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are soft and the steak is cooked to medium doneness. If using hot or sweet peppers, add them in the last minute of cooking.

  3. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Once the steak and vegetables are cooked, divide the mixture into four portions in the skillet and place two slices of white American cheese on each portion. Cover the skillet with a lid for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare the Rolls

While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise but not all the way through, creating a pocket.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Cheesesteaks

Once the cheese has melted, use a spatula to transfer the steak and vegetable mixture into the prepared rolls. Serve hot and enjoy!
