Panini Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Season the steak with salt and black pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, then add the steak. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until the desired doneness is achieved. Remove from heat and let it rest before slicing thinly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Portobello Mushrooms

Clean the portobello mushrooms with a damp cloth and remove the stems. Marinate them with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and fresh basil. Let them sit for at least 10 minutes.

Grilling the Paninis

  1. 3

    Grill the Mushrooms

In the same skillet or on a grill, cook the marinated portobello mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes on each side until they are tender and have nice grill marks.

  2. 4

    Assemble the Paninis

On one slice of sourdough bread, layer the sliced steak, grilled portobello mushrooms, and a slice of provolone cheese. Top with another slice of bread to form a sandwich.

  3. 5

    Grill the Paninis

Preheat a panini press or a skillet over medium heat. If using a skillet, place a heavy pan on top of the sandwich to press it down. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  4. 6

    Serve

Remove the paninis from the heat, cut them in half, and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious grilled paninis!
