Preparing the Meat
- 1
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef (or chicken or pork). Cook until browned and no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
- 2
Season the Meat
Once the meat is cooked, drain any excess fat. Stir in taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add a bit of water if needed to keep the mixture moist. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
Preparing the Tacos
- 3
Warm the Tortillas
While the meat is simmering, warm the soft tortillas in a microwave or on a skillet for about 30 seconds until pliable. For crispy tacos, heat the corn tortillas in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy.
- 4
Assemble the Tacos
Place a generous amount of the cooked meat mixture into each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, and chopped cilantro.
Serving the Tacos

Serve with Lime
Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top. Enjoy your delicious homemade tacos!
