Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub the top sirloin steak with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Make sure the steak is well coated on both sides.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 3

    Sauté the Garlic

In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the skillet, along with lemon juice, red pepper flakes, and salt. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Stir in the chopped cilantro before serving.

Rice and Beans Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook the Rice

In a pot, combine the white rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Beans

While the rice is cooking, heat the canned black beans in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add cumin and salt, and stir until heated through.
