Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Base

In a large glass container, combine the grain alcohol and water. Stir well to mix.

  2. 2

    Dissolve Sugar

Add the sugar to the alcohol-water mixture and stir until completely dissolved.

Flavoring

  1. 3

    Add Flavorings

Slice the vanilla beans open and scrape out the seeds. Add the seeds and the whole beans to the mixture. Add the citrus zest, cinnamon stick, and cloves.

  2. 4

    Infuse

Cover the container and let the mixture sit in a cool, dark place for at least 2 weeks. Shake gently every few days to mix the flavors.

Finishing Touches

  1. 5

    Strain the Mixture

After the infusion period, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the solids.

  2. 6

    Add Nutmeg and Almond Extract

Add the nutmeg and almond extract to the strained liquid and mix well.

  3. 7

    Bottle and Store

Pour the finished liqueur into bottles, seal tightly, and store in a cool, dark place.
