Cream Mixture

Method

Cream Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

  2. 2

    Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Egg Yolks

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks until they are pale and thick. Gradually fold the egg yolks into the mascarpone mixture until evenly incorporated.

Coffee Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Coffee Mixture

Brew the espresso or strong coffee and let it cool slightly. If using, stir in the coffee liqueur into the coffee.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

In a 9x13 inch dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers on the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, then sprinkle half of the chocolate chips on top.

  3. 7

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the process with the remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, and chocolate chips, ending with the mascarpone mixture on top.

  4. 8

    Chill and Dust

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust the top generously with cocoa powder.
