Pasta Preparation

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil.

Cook Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.
Ragu Sauce Preparation

Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Cook Ground Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. If using, add the red wine.

Simmer Sauce
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Once the sauce is ready, add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet. Toss everything together, adding a bit of the reserved pasta water if the sauce is too thick.

Plate the spaghetti al ragu and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
