Pizza Base

Method

Pizza Dough

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Topping Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Shrimp

If using raw shrimp, grill them until cooked through and slightly charred. Set aside to cool, then chop into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 6

    Mix Toppings

In a bowl, combine the jumbo lump crabmeat, grilled shrimp, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon juice, and black pepper. Toss gently to combine.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) with a pizza stone inside if you have one.

  2. 8

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer to a floured surface. Roll or stretch it out to your desired shape and thickness.

  3. 9

    Add Cheese and Toppings

Transfer the shaped dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the base, then distribute the crab and shrimp mixture on top.

  4. 10

    Bake Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 11

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve hot. Enjoy your Pizza Di Mare!
