Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Ginger Syrup
Peel and slice the fresh ginger root into thin pieces. Measure 1 cup of the sliced ginger.
- 2
Cook the Ginger
In a saucepan, combine the sliced ginger, granulated sugar, and 4 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- 3
Simmer the Mixture
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 30 minutes. This will allow the ginger to infuse its flavor into the syrup.
- 4
Strain the Syrup
After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl or jar, discarding the ginger pieces. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
- 5
Mix the Gingerale
In a large pitcher, combine the cooled ginger syrup with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 4 cups of club soda. Stir gently to combine, being careful not to lose the bubbles.
- 6
Serve
Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the ginger ale over the ice. Serve immediately for a refreshing drink.
