Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. If using frozen shrimp, ensure they are completely thawed. Season with salt and pepper.
- 2
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the dish.
Cooking
- 3
Cook the Shrimp
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the seasoned shrimp and sauté for 3-4 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- 4
Combine Sauce Ingredients
In the same skillet, add the marinara sauce, capers, and kalamata olives. Stir to combine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
- 5
Add Shrimp to Sauce
Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, mixing them into the marinara sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
Assembling
- 6
Layer Ingredients
In a baking dish, spread half of the marinara sauce mixture on the bottom. Layer with bruschetta tomatoes, followed by the shrimp mixture, and top with mozzarella and provolone cheese.
- 7
Bake the Dish
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serving
- 8
Serve
Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
