Method
Preparation
- 1
Rinse the Cranberries
Place the fresh cranberries in a colander and rinse them under cool running water to remove any dirt or debris.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a large pot, combine the rinsed cranberries and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- 3
Simmer the Mixture
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and softened.
- 4
Strain the Juice
After simmering, remove the pot from heat. Use a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the mixture into a large bowl, pressing down on the solids to extract as much juice as possible.
- 5
Add Sweeteners
Stir in the granulated sugar and lemon juice to the strained cranberry juice. Taste and adjust the sweetness or acidity as desired.
- 6
Chill and Serve
Let the juice cool to room temperature, then transfer it to a pitcher and refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice or as desired.
