Marinara Sauce

Method

Prepare Marinara Sauce

  1. 1

    Sauté Garlic

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 2

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Prepare Toppings

  1. 4

    Sauté Mushrooms

In a separate skillet, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced portobello mushrooms and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened and slightly browned.

Assemble the Dish

  1. 5

    Combine Cheeses

In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella and provolone cheeses.

  2. 6

    Layer Ingredients

In a baking dish, spread the marinara sauce evenly on the bottom. Sprinkle half of the cheese mixture over the sauce, then layer the sautéed portobello mushrooms on top.

  3. 7

    Top with Cheese

Finish by adding the remaining cheese mixture on top of the mushrooms and shave the black truffle pecorino cheese over everything.

Bake the Dish

  1. 8

    Bake

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the assembled dish for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  2. 9

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Bella!
