Method

Preparation of Ahi Tuna Bites

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ahi Tuna

Start by patting the Ahi tuna steaks dry with a paper towel. This will help achieve a nice sear. Cut the steaks into bite-sized cubes (about 1 inch).

  2. 2

    Season the Tuna

In a bowl, toss the tuna cubes with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Sear the Tuna

Heat a skillet over high heat. Once hot, add the tuna cubes to the skillet in a single layer. Sear for about 30 seconds to 1 minute on each side until they are browned on the outside but remain rare on the inside.

  4. 4

    Garnish

Remove the tuna bites from the skillet and immediately sprinkle with sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions for garnish.

Preparation of Wasabi Aioli

  1. 5

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, wasabi paste, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt to taste. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

  2. 6

    Chill

Cover the wasabi aioli and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
