Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare Pork Skin
Start by cleaning the pork skin thoroughly and removing any excess fat. Cut the skin into small pieces or strips.
- 2
Boil Pork Skin
In a large pot, add the pork skin and cover it with water. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for about 1 hour until tender.
- 3
Dry the Pork Skin
Once boiled, remove the pork skin and let it cool completely. Pat it dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 4
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 375°F (190°C).
- 5
Fry the Pork Skin
Carefully add the dried pork skin pieces to the hot oil in batches. Fry until they puff up and become golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
- 6
Drain and Season
Remove the chicharrones from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with ranch powder and squeeze fresh lime juice over them.
- 7
Serve
Serve the crispy chicharrones warm as a snack or appetizer, with additional lime wedges on the side.
