Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Begin by chilling an old-fashioned glass. You can do this by filling the glass with ice water and letting it sit for a few minutes while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of James E Pepper Rye, 0.5 oz of spiced pecan syrup, and 2 dashes of peach bitters.

  3. 3

    Add Ice

Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes (about 3 cups), making sure to pack them tightly to ensure proper chilling and dilution of the ingredients.

  4. 4

    Stir the Mixture

Stir the mixture gently for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled and combined. Be careful not to over-dilute.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Glass Again

Empty the ice water from the chilled old-fashioned glass and strain the cocktail mixture into the glass over fresh ice.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Express the oils from the orange peel over the cocktail by holding it over the glass and giving it a twist. Drop the peel into the drink, and garnish with a cocktail cherry.

  7. 7

    Serve

Enjoy your Luke's Old Fashioned immediately while it's still cold and refreshing.
