Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Capellini
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the capellini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 3-4 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Sausage and Sauce Preparation
- 2
Sauté the Sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2 minutes until softened.
- 3
Add the Sausage
Remove the casing from the Italian sausage and add the sausage meat to the skillet. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- 4
Add Marinara Sauce
Once the sausage is cooked, pour in the marinara sauce. Stir to combine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Final Assembly
- 5
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked capellini pasta to the skillet with the sausage and marinara sauce. Toss gently to combine, ensuring the pasta is fully coated with the sauce.
- 6
Add Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the pasta and cover the skillet with a lid. Let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Remove from heat, garnish with chopped fresh basil, and serve hot. Enjoy your Capellini Sausage!
