Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Fettuccine

Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, typically about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water.

Making Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 6

    Incorporate Heavy Cream

Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Allow the mixture to simmer for 3-5 minutes.

  4. 7

    Add Parmesan Cheese

Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and the sauce is creamy.

  5. 8

    Season the Sauce

Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Stir to combine.

  6. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained fettuccine to the sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.

  7. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve immediately.
