Fried Rice

Method

Fried Rice Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the SPAM

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the diced SPAM. Cook until crispy and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté Garlic

In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Add the cooked Jasmine rice to the skillet with the garlic. Stir well to combine.

  4. 4

    Add SPAM and Season

Return the cooked SPAM to the skillet. Add the chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through. Remove from heat.

Wrap Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare Banana Leaves

Briefly heat the banana leaves over an open flame or in a hot pan to make them pliable. Cut the leaves into squares, approximately 10x10 inches.

  2. 6

    Scoop Fried Rice

Place a generous amount of the SPAM fried rice mixture in the center of each banana leaf square.

  3. 7

    Wrap and Secure

Fold the sides of the banana leaf over the rice to create a secure wrap. You can use kitchen twine to tie them if necessary.

  4. 8

    Serve

Arrange the wrapped fried rice on a plate and serve with lime wedges on the side.
